note to self: do not remove .bazelversion from projects
The other day, I was pondering whether to keep setting particular bazel version in projects. I even removed some, to see what would become of it.
Since I use the bazelisk installation method, I get automatic bazel updates when a new version is released.
It turns out that this remains a bad idea. An auto-update to bazel 8.5.0 caused some of my CI workflows to fail, likely because bazel 8.5.0 requires some updates to tools versions as well.
Since I don’t want surprises like these, I’m adding this note to keep .bazelversion files around for the foreseeable future.
