Google Nest Router (2nd Generation) can serve as an access point
I accidentally bought the Google Nest 2nd Generation Router when I needed an Access Point.
It turns out that the Router can act as an Access Point and join a mesh network that already has an active Router. Just select “Access Point” when setting it up instead of “Router”.
This is very useful in multiple ways:
- If you accidentally buy the wrong device;
- If you don’t want the microphone that’s built into the Access Point.
- If you want the ability to plug into an Ethernet point on the Access Point. (Since actual Access Points don’t have an Ethernet port, and the Router has two).
